Green technology is getting a tremendous amount of support and for very good reason. Our current energy and environmental solutions always have room for improvement and at the current pace of energy use and pollutant output we are rapidly using up our planet’s resources and dirtying up rivers and our air. These are not renewable resources and as such it is critical that we take steps to ensure we preserve resources and keep our environment clean. People are realizing this in mass numbers and governments are putting forth a great deal of money and programs to ensure we develop more sustainable ways of living. ACTIVATED CARBON AND ITS USES

If one useful substance has been discovered from tons of tons of wasteful materials, in the recent past, it has been activated carbon. Activated carbon has been extracted coconut shells, date seeds and such things which were considered useless, hitherto. It would not be out of place if activated carbon is termed one of the greatest discoveries of the decade. The importance of activated in water filtration has already been established. People using other forms of filtration for household requirements are presently switching over to activated carbon induced filtration for drinking water as well as for bathing and washing purposes. The role of activated carbon as an important component in air fresheners is also very well known. The tiny pores in the activated carbon absorb the pollutants in the atmosphere rendering the air clean and pure for us to breathe.

The application of activated carbon in water filtration involves two stages. Firstly, the gross impurities in the water are segregated by any simple process. Once the visible residues are removed, the water is then passed through the presence of activated carbon, which on account of its adsorption properties, sucks in all harmful and toxic chemicals from the water and renders the water safe for drinking purposes, at the same time such minerals are still retained in the water that are essential for the body.

Apart from this, the role of activated carbon in detoxification or cleansing of the system to rid the body of all toxins cannot be refuted. Activated carbon in combination with other materials or herbs forms a fine external applicant for diseases like gout. Activated carbon taken prior to meals puts gastric ailments to rest. Its use as anti-pollutant has found favor in big industries already. Activated carbon is truly one of the best discoveries for the good of all living beings in the biosphere.
