Activated Carbon Today

Activated carbon is nothing but a activated charcoal and it is processed in such a way that it many pores on it. The pores are having large surface on it, and they are sued for absorption of contaminants around the atmosphere or chemical reactions. Our drinking water may contain lot of pesticides, and contaminants not in proposed order. The activated carbon absorbs these contaminants from tap water and act as a filter for absorbing contents in drinking water. For this purpose, it is used in water filters. Activated carbon is processed to have high positive charge, when the negative charged water pass through it, it absorbs the negative charged contaminants. Activated carbon are two types. Granular activated carbon and powdered block carbon. Granular activated carbon are less effective while removing contaminants because of amount of carbon in unit and amount of time contaminants spend with water. The larger the carbon, the best purified water will be obtained quickly. As powdered block carbon has more carbon, it is more effective in water purifying system. Activated carbon is used in water treatment system. It helps to remove bad taste, odor, chlorine and many organic substances present in the water. Drinking purified is good for health. Most of the diseases are contaminated through water. To avoid this, we have to use water filter made of activated carbon for the better result. But at the same time, this carbon filter does not non organic materials or metals, salts, copper, barium, fluoride, beryllium, cadmium, chromium etc. These may be removed by reverse osmosis filter or distiller. Further it does not receive sediments of particular material.
